Curtis Morris Sides
February 15, 1931 ~ August 14, 2010
Curtis Morris Sides was born in Weldon, Texas on February 15, 1931, the oldest child of James Edgar and Mary Shiflett Sides. Curtis moved to Angleton at a young age and attended school in Angleton, where he was a member of the class of 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorene Sides Wade and Nola Sides Matheny; brother James Sides; and granddaughter Tammy Hargrove.
He was a member of Operator's Union Local 450, and a member of Angleton Masonic Lodge 829, where he served as an advisor for the Angleton DeMolay Chapter. Mr. Sides was a member of the Baptist Church.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Yates Sides; son Donald Sides of Algoa, Texas; daughters Vickie Smilie and Nicki Sides of Angleton; grandchildren Rhonda, Rene, Christopher, Jeff, Amy, and Thomas; great grandchildren Derrick, Nicholas, Lane, Cole, Cy, Devin, Sabrina, Jared, Brandon, Bobby, Jeffrey, and Alex; great-great grandchildren Lukas and Alanna; sisters Georgia Sides Bailey and husband Leon of Livingston, Texas and Bette Sides Sweeny of Alvin; as well as two special aunts.
Services for Curtis will be held at 2 pm on August 17th at Palms Funeral Home with burial following at Angleton Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 16th from 6-8 pm. at Palms Funeral Home.
