Mary Matsushita Dollar
December 10, 1923- October 18, 2008
Mary Dollar joined her family in heaven on Saturday, October 18, 2008. She was a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born in Alvin, Texas, to Belia and Junokichi Matsushita and lived in Alvin or Danbury most of her life.
She graduated from Alvin High School where she was a drum major and trumpet player. She attended the University of Texas and was a life-long Longhorn football fan. Mary married her high school sweetheart, J. Ross Dollar, and they were married 53 years before J. Ross died in 1994. Her main focus in life was taking care of her family, and she raised three children and enriched the lives of her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mary loved her garden, reading her Bible, her wellness center pals and the hummingbirds and wildlife around her house. She was an avid hunter at the Cobweb Ranch in Beeville, where the family gathered for many happy times. Her family will remember her most for her great sense of fun and her complete dedication to her family. She was devoted to taking care of people and was a true servant, always supportive of her family with uncomplaining love.
Her son, Andrew Ross Dollar, a Vietnam veteran, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Marilyn Wagner and Nancy Garrett and son-in-law Jacko Garrett; grandchildren Kytha Eibel and husband Jim, Traci LaChance and husband Paul, Christy Jennings and husband Webb, great grandchildren Garrett and Meagan Harvey, Graham and James Eibel, and Mary B. and Lila Jennings.
