Willie Lazaro Robles

Willie Lazaro Robles was born May 28, 1914 in Roma, Starr County, Texas to Juan Robles and Delfina Garcia. He passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at his Angleton residence.
He resided in Wharton, Texas until 1965.
Willie worked at the Alamo Lumber Company in Wharton, Texas.
He along with other families helped to build Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in 1948 with the assistance of Father Joseph Dillon and Father Max Murphy.
He was a member of The Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and Cursillista.
Willie married Cruz Alcorta on October 14, 1940 in 1948 and their marriage was blessed in the newly erected church. From this union, 10 children were born.
In 1965, he moved to Angleton, Texas where he was employed by Robertson Tank Lines until 1975.
The family followed him in 1966. In Angleton he and his family attend Santos Tomas de Aquino Catholic Church, after it’s closure; they attended St. Basil – St. Tomas. Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church will be his final celebration of life.
He enjoyed fishing and watching the Astros games on television.
He was a very compassionate person, his family always came first and he always told the children to study hard so that they could have a better way of life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Rodolfo “Rudy” Robles and daughter, Candi Rodriguez.
Willie is survived by his wife of 67 years Cruz of Angleton, children Andrew Robles of Angleton, Ramon Robles and wife Martha of Texas City, Gloria Soliz and husband Raymond of Angleton, Alonzo Robles of Houston, Dora Robles and husband Antonio of Katy, Janie Valadez and husband Pete of Clute, Frank Robles and wife Hope of Angleton, Margaret Ferrel and husband Louis of Houston and sister, Angelita Robles Davila of Lockhart, Texas.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Palms Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Texas on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Angleton Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Cierra Jane Valadez, Rodolfo Robles, Jr., Antonio Robles, III, Raymond Soliz, Jr., Ramon Robles, Jr., Philip Andrew Rodriguez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Willie’s 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
