Gonzalo Cosme Mata Uncle “Doc”
October 22, 1927 ~ June 1, 2010
Gonzalo Mata, 82, of Angleton, entered eternal life on Tuesday, June 1, 2010.
Gonzalo was born to the late Victor and Concepcion Cosme Mata on October 22, 1927 in Mercedes, Texas. He now resides with the Lord in peace and comfort.
He was preceded in death by his parents along with his brothers, Ernest Mata, Mario Mata, Armando Mata, Rodrigo Mata and Juan Trevino; and one sister, Manuela Lopez.
Gonzalo leaves many loved ones including his daughter, Virginia Cosme of Spring and her children Victoria and Veronica Rivera. Gonzalo is also survived by his son, Rodrigo Cosme (Teresa) of Houston and their children Selika and Helena; brother, Rafael Escobedo; sisters, Anna Maria Calderon, Elena Flores, Catalina Martinez and Maria Elena Mata; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gonzalo was a long time member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Texas. He was a faithful employee of Brazosport College for over 20 years. Uncle “Doc” was an absolute joy to be around and always made his family and friends laugh. He loved good food, watching baseball (especially the Astros), soccer and his novelas. He was always there for his loved ones and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 4th from 6:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home.
