Curtis Henry Toombs

Curtis Henry Toombs, 74, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Piggit, Arkansas, on April 18, 1936 to Ira and Flora Elizabeth Wealthy.
Curtis worked as a boiler maker for the Local Union 74 for over 30 years. After his retirement he then worked for the City of Danbury in their Public Works Dept. and than he continued to serve the people of Danbury by working at the Danbury Food Market.
He graduated from Danbury High School and then joined the Army to serve his country as a Missile Specialist E4.
There seemed to be nothing that Curtis hadn’t done or couldn’t do, he was a man of many skills and talents.
He was a hard worker and loved working on the farm caring for the animals that he loved along with his nephew, Daniel Toombs.
Curtis lived a simple life yet he touched many lives through the kind things he did for others. He had many interests which included his roses, feeding/watching birds, gardening and cooking Barbeque.
He loved his country, family, friends, and community and never stopped giving, helping, and serving others. He was a dependable man that you could always count on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Dale Toombs.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Wanda Landrum Toombs, his children Curtis Wayne Toombs (Dee Dee) of Kokomo, Indiana, Larry Landrum of Danbury, Laura Martin (John) of Brazoria, Tina Horton (Kenneth) of Alvin, brother Donald Toombs (Evelyn) of Danbury, sister Della June Risinger of Cameron, Texas, grandchildren Curtis Benjamin Toombs, Khristopher Curtis Toombs, Jimmie Brown (Robyn), Jana Brown, Christina Brown, Kortney Ragusa great-granddaughter Chloe Rose, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also left behind his beloved dog, Sissy, his loyal and faithful companion.
Curtis’s family will welcome visitors from 12:00 p.m. to service time, 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.
Curtis will be greatly missed but we can be comforted knowing that we will see his smile and hear his laugh again someday – heaven is a much better place now.
