Dorothy Kennedy

Dorothy Kennedy of Llano, Texas, formerly of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. She was born in Montgomery County, Tennessee on December 4, 1914, to Isaac Hartwell Powers and Mary Maxey Powers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ambrus Alex Kennedy; two brothers: I. W. Powers and Frank Ward Jr.; and five sisters: Francis Winters, Ana May Powers, Louise Gibbs, Ethel Gruneberg, and Irene Wall.
Dorothy and Ambrus were married November 23, 1940, in Clarksville, Tennessee and made their home in Evansville, Indiana. While living in Evansville, they were blessed with a son, James. They moved to Angleton in 1947 where Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother who always had a zest for life, and enjoyed being a homemaker, especially baking and gardening. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Angleton.
Dorothy is survived by her son, James and his wife, Christine, of Burnet, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Ward of Detroit, Michigan, sisters-in-law Odie Turner of Pasadena, Texas, Melva Ward and Mozina Kennedy of Clarksville, Tennessee, many cherished nieces and nephews, and special friends, Lou and Shirley Eberspacher of Angleton.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Sparkman, Darryl Wayne Lewis, Leon Baker, Bobby James, Gary Kirk, and Harvey King. Honorary pallbearers include Lou Eberspacher, J. C. Andrews, J. B. Davis, J. C. Davis, and Charles L. Kilsby. Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery.
