Joyce Marie Holt Blessing

December 20, 1940 ~ August 7, 2008

Joyce Marie Holt Blessing left this world to meet her heavenly father August 7, 2008 with her loving family at her side. She was born December 20, 1940 in Angleton, TX to Samuel Henry Holt and Mary Beth Holt Thompson.
Joyce worked for RiceTech her entire career, which spanned 25 years. She started as a Receptionist and worked her way up to Marketing Supervisor by the time she retired in 2004. Joyce loved her work and built lasting relationships with many of her co-workers. She was proud of the job she did but even more proud of the many friendships that were made over the years.
A life-long Christian, Joyce was a member of the Life Four Square Church in Angleton. This may be where she made the most significant contributions of her life. Joyce was involved in many aspects of the church, and, again, built beautiful relationships with many. Everyone knew Joyce and loved her. She ministered in personal ways that touched many lives through the years. Her battle with cancer over the last several years and her positive spirit and strong faith inspired so many in her church community and far beyond.
Joyce’s entire life revolved around her very large family. She was a central figure in every holiday or event and is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Henry Holt; mother, Mary Beth Holt Thompson; brother, H.L. Holt; and sisters, Addie Jane Rogers and Rebecca Faith Holt.
She is survived by her husband of 47 wonderful years, John Thomas (Bud) Blessing; sons, Jimmy (Duke) Blessing, Jon David Blessing, Christopher Blain Blessing and daughter, Kathy Blessing Lopez.
Joyce is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Sidney Marie Blessing, Dylan Wade Blessing (their mother, Carolyn Blessing), Carly Elizabeth Blessing, Holt McCoy Blessing (their mother Rainy Blessing), Justin Machelski, John Jacob Machelski, Jessica Machelski, Melanie Erickson and Cassie Lopez., and one great-grandchild, Andrew Machelski.
Surviving sisters are Ollie Beth Douglas (husband James Douglas), Bonnie Jewel Taylor, Barbara Jean Collard and brother, Watt (Tooter) Holt. Joyce is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Billy Schwarz, Bud Beacom, Will Folse, Barry Campbell, Billy Gambino and Brad Lewno.
Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Monday at Life Four Square Church in Angleton. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 pm at Palms Funeral Home
